Why did the Lord exonerate Himself from marital obligations? Matt 10:34-36
Marriage which is the human idea of staying together considers prime, the family ties. Even though God is our Creator and the only One who should determine "why", "who" and "when" one is married, yet families of intending couples find it more important to consider their own social status and achievements before letting in their wards.
Without families' involvement and endorsement, that marriage or whatever joining is, is illegal and uncertified. Don't be confused or deceived, get it straight: Marriage, from the onset is more of families joining than the couple themselves. Whereas in the beginning, when Adam was created and his wife made from him, it was not so.
In the beginning, God created man in His own likeness, which is, male and female - every female from her male. Though not every male is created with the female extension. This takes lots of praying to discern. And God kept this connectivity of making one from another widely distributed and spread among mankind while persons are kept under different auspices, guardian or tutor.
It is written, "For this reason shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife and the two shall become one flesh; therefore what God has joined together, let not man put asunder". It simply means, God's creative mode of fashioning males with their females, His foremost joining, does not require any other certification but God only. Nothing else matters, no other joining or marrying can be likened to it! None.
It further means, when the male finally awakes from his "deep sleep" caused on him by God to see his own female counterpart created from his ribs as a man finds his woman, no payment is therefore required - whether in dowry or other payments to get her as his wife. Praise God! This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our sight!
Now, understand that this sales and trading of each other for a ransom in form of dowries, the tradition of men is highly prohibited by God. This probably is one reason the Lord.... As a matter of fact, it's FORBIDDEN!! See reason: how much has any parent given to preserve the soul of his or her daughter? It's been God all along, the only He, the Holy One at work, sustaining her breath! It's then very wrong collecting an offering for such a benevolence!
To the Lord, marriage may have been instituted by God because it involves interpersonal relations, it is however, clearly and glaringly, not to have been constituted or originated from God, who stands forever a living Witness among other witnesses to all human endeavors in ensuring total equity, fairness and justice in their affairs.
