LITTLE SHORT STORY
One of those things we do. Maybe those days of ignorance God overlooked.
Many years ago, I wanted to help the church grow musically and since I have some basic knowledge handling a musical instrument, bass guitar, I took it home for a refresher course.
I quite didn't know what happened next.
I fell ill within a week, was down with high fever.
I just couldn't wrap my head around it but kept thinking why this?
Then, I had a dream.
"There is this Citrus that belongs to everybody which I alone eat."
I knew in my heart right there, this was not a good thing, eating alone what belongs to everybody.
I resorted to praying to know exactly what was that which belonged to everybody...
After some minutes, I discovered it was the guitar I took.
I could not have thought a thing like that without a ready player, free and unused, kept under care, that I'd use for the church could make me sick to valley of the shadow of death for 24hours.
I got up and made amendments and vowed not a pin that belongs to the holy assembly would I use for myself.
You see, everything in church is holy - it belongs to God!
My dear friend, you know Belshazzar in Daniel Five, verses One to Thirty-one did something like that.
I think he didn't realized the gravity of playing with not-in-use vessels, reserved for God's use.
Nebuchadnezzar his predecessor had taken those golden cups and utensils from the Temple in Jerusalem and kept them off use.
Belshazzar thought those golden and silver vessels were useless, wasting away and had probably lost their original purpose and reason for existence, forgotten by Jehovah since they were kept in captivity.
He with his concubines took them for a dinner.
They drank, got drunk and poured praises to the god of gold and silver.
That same night, Belshazzar lost his authority as king of Babylon and over the whole world.
Actually, he was assassinated.
He belittled, underestimated the everlasting love of God for His people, though they sinned - desecrated the Lord's Sabbaths and He'd sent them out of Jerusalem to work for the peace of Babylon.
My most reverend friend, do you know God's love for His church is everlasting?
Have you grasped this understanding that, God the unchangeable changer's love does not wane with time?
If you really love your life bro, you'll freely add to the church, not take from her.
You'll merge not divide her.
You won't make God's flock yours!
You're not their father, so don't call them "my children" thence robbing God His relevance to His children, sharing His glory.
Treat the things of God with reverential fear and much trembling; don't be lackadaisical.
For He'll not spare you on His day of vengeance! Repent before it's too late.
And return every Thing of God - glory and honour you took for yourself, your humble Self.
Keep His flock as one and expect a time of refreshing. Peace!
