HOW DID YOU DIE?
"...and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion"
Phil 2:8 MSG
HOW DID YOU DIE?
One cogent question God is asking you today is, "my Friend, what killed you?" What exactly has brought you down to the last point? What in whole world reduced, killed and embalmed you? And was it for righteousness' sake or rightful state?
It looks more as if, what eventually kills a man depicts what sort of person he is. Everything looks as if, the death you die tells whether you're for OR against God.
For Jesus the Firstborn of God's family, His death was not His own nor for own sins. O yes, He died for others. So the scriptures called it "selfless!"
For some, they die for not obeying the voice of God while for some, of diseases and ailments, inflictions from meals they bought with their own money, foods not provided by God.
And others still, die fighting and defending "Self". Invariably, from unforgiving spirit.
No doubts, all deaths are not equal and won't have same resultant effect. The death you die speaks more of the kind of resurrection you'll experience.
While our Lord Jesus resurrected from dead and lives ever more - ascended to heaven the throne of God and now seated as God's Highest Commissioner, very many others living their own lives sank and stunk in their death.
Is your death self-less or self-full? Is your punishment (death) a result of own misdeeds, carelessness or for others' misbehaviour? Is your predicament a punishment for own sin or sins of others?
Can you state categorically what has killed or incapacitated you that you can no longer work for God? Excuse me bro, what rendered you so unavailable for God's use - selfish or selfless matters? Do you love yourself so much that you can't be taken for granted or overlooked?
Excuse Sis, if you drop dead now, what would you say killed you? That you lived your own life pleasing satisfying yourself, preening on self, protecting your own integrity or lived safeguarding the general interest?
How do you handle the things that belong to everybody? How do you act or react to something that belongs to anybody, everyone?
See, will your dying be selfless as our Lord's death was, One who laid aside His special privileges as Deity and lived fully a human life, even working as a Slave? Sure, well enough, He resurrected because that death was not His doing but for others. Christ was completely selfless.
Let us emulate Christ, for death is inevitable.
