Had-ed-damm Murder Meadow, Aceldama 7
During this time, Peter stood up in the company—there were about 120 of them in the room at the time—and said, “Friends, long ago the Holy Spirit spoke through David regarding Judas, who became the guide to those who arrested Jesus. That Scripture had to be fulfilled, and now has been. Judas was one of us and had his assigned place in this ministry. “As you know, he took the evil bribe money and bought a small farm. There he came to a bad end, rupturing his belly and spilling his guts. Everybody in Jerusalem knows this by now; they call the place Murder Meadow. It’s exactly what we find written in the Psalms: Let his farm become haunted, So no one can ever live there. And also what was written later: Let someone else take over his post. Act 1:15-20 MSG
Having reviewed Aceldama 1-6 which spoke differently each of Judas Iscariot's character, this Seventh part is no different as it seeks to speak to another class of God's enemy - those who feel or think until they kill another their own life cannot be felt, seen or admired.
Everyone working for God need put a check on his life lest he becomes a Judas in his workings, who'd thought if Jesus died, many more supposedly righteous persons would rise. Definitely, he must have been receiving lectures from Caiphais the high priest, John 11:49-50.
Judas seemed more committed to Caiphais the high priest and his teachings while keeping the purse for Jesus and other disciples. Who else should be closest to the leadership of any group if not the treasurer? But this Judas was the farthest, so far from the Lord that his feet were unwashed till he met his unfortunate death.
With the evil bribe money Judas (Praise) got he bought a farm which was called Murder Meadow, Had-ed-damm by today's pronunciation. Few things would have run through his mind while betraying the Author of Life and our Salvation in order to have a small farm, his Plan B, in case Jesus failed to resurrect. After all, no one who died ever come back to life.
Now, doing a job according to the will of God is not a bad idea but to think God cannot provide for you is its bane. Judas Iscariot got a plan B for himself, acquired a small farm to keep body and soul together after the Lord's demise and departure from this vain world. Judas followed the Lord but not for a changed life.
