OBEDIENT FAITH

It was by faith that Abel obeyed God and brought an offering that pleased God more than Cain’s offering did. God accepted Abel and proved it by accepting his gift; and though Abel is long dead, we can still learn lessons from him about trusting God. HEBREWS 11:4 TLB

Faith survives by living the Life which survives by prayer. Praying the received word is the way to living the word by faith. And this is the first step to exercising one's faith - praying. FAITH, WORK AND PRAYER ARE ONE. Cain got the nudge to offer God "something" from his work but he being godless pretended as if it wasn't God. He heard God's voice but refused listening again since God is Spirit and unseen, he waved it and forged ahead. In the course of time, he thought of obeying God then brought fruits to Him not from tree of his life but of the mere soil. Much later, God gave similar instructions to Abel and though God invisible is, Abel responded with definiteness. He didn't just offer firstlings of his flock but the best of the firstlings. God saw his heart and bequeathed to him the honours of being righteous.

ACTION POINT:
The difference between Cain and Abel obedience is prayer. Abel prayed to obey, Cain did not but presumed that God is All-mighty and should make him be. See, you obey God resentfully because you don't pray it. The Lord said in Luke 18:8, "When He shall return to earth will He find people who have faith and are praying? Amen
