DAY 14, WORKING WISDOM
When read from Message Translation, it says, "Diligent work gets a warm commendation, shiftless work earns an angry rebuke". This means the other kind of wisdom is "Shiftless" or "Non-working". These two kinds of wisdom are thus expressed in a story documented in the Bible, Gen 25:24-28, of Esau the First and Jacob his brother - plain and working wisdom against cunning and shiftless wisdom.

Esau lost his place as the elder son or older brother because he was shiftless, not wanting to be responsible as the older. Then sold it to Jacob whose life was plain and living in tents. Jacob, in the bid of saving the family's name bought that right as the firstborn, went off to a far country and traded with it for greater profits. That was demonstrated at his return from Laban's house.

Esau was termed "godless" for his insensitivity to the things of God, especially, His gifts. This cunning wisdom is undoubtedly the godless life that regards no one, full of the flesh, sensual and dodging responsibilities.
