MY PEOPLE

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV

MY PEOPLE.
God chose His people Israel even before they would know or realize it. God chooses people and call them by His name, sanctifying and declaring them "holy" - Ex 19:3-6, people dedicated to Him. Then, what sort of people could be termed "God's people?" Obedient, humble people who keep His covenant, praying.

In clear words, the content of "my people" in today's text obviously may have changed because if they were really God's people, they'd be humble, dependent on God. Whereas, God had kept His own side of the covenant still called them my people though it were an empty shell with none residing - for they were stubborn, obstinate, stiff-necked, hardhearted, wilful people who obey themselves only.

This calls for serious humility, lowering of Self, turning away from wicked ways because it'll take such attitudinal change to obey any rightly constituted authority. When God is absent, a ventured way is termed "wicked" because it'd favour yourself not others. For God's will is always general and universal, in which everybody everywhere is blessed. In this way, our lands can be healed and fully replenished.

Jos 1:7 says, " Only be strong and very courageous that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you, do not turn from it to the right hand or the left, that you may prosper wherever you go ". Doing the will of God, the righteousness of God is not about the rights or wrongs, not turning the left or the right but simply doing the will of the Father.
